Biography
Mr. Wright began training in 1974 with Mr. Bob Barrow, one of Chuck Norris’ first black belts. He was awarded Black Belt three years later in 1977 and he currently holds the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt, acquired in 2010
He has had a long history with the United Fighting Arts Federation, which is the governing body of our style of martial arts. He is a current member of UFAF’s National Board of Directors and is UFAF’s International Training Convention Director of Tournament Development.
If you’ve watched Chuck Norris’ hit television show, “Walker, Texas Ranger,” then you’ve seen Chip Wright at work as his stunt double. Out of the fighting arena he was working as Norris’ double on Walker Texas Ranger from 1993-2002 and 2005. As well as the films GymKata, Eye for an Eye, Sidekicks, Top Dog, Forest Ranger, The Cutter, Missionary Man, and Walking Tall 2.
A member of the Trans World Oil National Karate Team from 1986 to 1991 he traveled all over the United States as well as internationally throughout Europe for competitions. He has been ranked as a top competitor by many governing organizations of Sport martial arts, including Black Belt Magazine – one of the first organizations to categorize open tournaments and rank tournament competitors.
